Domus Realty is accepting applications from registered charities working towards the great goal of ending homelessness in the HRM. As a company, and as individuals, we strongly believe in a Home for Everyone.

"Domus" is Latin for home.

We consider home to be a safe place where a person can return every night. Home is community, connectedness, and family.

About the Program

We applaud and recognize the immense dedication of those organizations and programs currently working to reduce the impact of homelessness in our community. The Domus Fund was created in 2009 to support those organizations and programs, or upstart charities with similar goals – in particular, those with fresh ideas and/or innovative approaches.

About your Organization and your Project

Provide the organization’s name, registered charity number, address, contact person, phone number, and email address, together with the title of the project for which you are requesting funds. Applications will be held in the strictest confidence.

2011 Domus Award

Domus is pleased to announce that Laing House was the first recipient of a grant from the fund.

For the 2012 award, applications will be accepted until 5 PM on April 30th, 2012.

Outcomes:
The measureable benefits or changes, which individual or communites experience as a result of a project. Outcomes may relate to changes in skill, knowledge, attitudes, behavior, and/or conditions.

Social Entrepreneurship:
A social entrepreneur recognizes a social problem and uses entrepreneurial principles to organize, create and manage a venture to achieve an outcome. This need not necessarily be incompatible with making a profit.
An independent panel of five people in the community chosen by Domus will review all applications for funding.
